hello my name is dan, im new to the forum and turbo jap cars in general so excuse my noob questions.

i have an:
r33 skyline gts 2.5 turbo, aprox 300bhp

could someone advise me how long i should leave my car to idle after a bit of a thrash :dogpile:

what oil should i be putting in it?

on both subjects ive been searching the threads but i cant find any results. im sure someone has discussed both in depth

All depends. After a heavy thrash (105 -110 degrees) I leave the bonnet up for a few mins and note the temp gauge on my power fc and wait till it gets back down to 85-90 degrees.

I've heard the oil of choice is silkoleen 10w 50 especially if you have mods .....

please correct me if I'm wrong as this is from memory

Anyway mate. I'll welcome you as I'm your area rep.

EDIT: We have a brag run coming up in sept, a great load of fun and a good time to introduce yourself:-

2nd sothern brag run

Plus a rolling road meet in November sometime.

Rolling road

Also as we are pic hores... get some pics up.

Whats the currect spec

Regards
Stuart

Thanks alot Stuart, Thats great ! I have been trawling through post upon post and theres alot of really helpful friendly advise on here! except what I was looking for! I am really worried that iam not leaving my skyline ideling long enough after a run as Iam getting mixed answers from people on how long they think I should idle it for, I have a turbo timer installed but it doesnt work due the dealer not knowing about it and I believe that the Sigma S30 is incompatible with it anyway !
if I take it out for a 30 minute drive how liong would you say io need to leave it on for on cool down ?

after a spirited drive a few mins to cool down or on the last 5 mins of the drive drop the revs right down and leave it for a couple of mins......on normal driving 2 mins should be ok mate.....
