Thanks to Liz and Rog for suggesting this one!

For our March meet we're going to do something a little different.

We'll be visiting 'Scale Models' in Stockport

http://www.scalemodels.co.uk/admin/parties.html

Scale models have a large 8 lane Scalextric track set out, and have agreed to run us a 2 hour event for a minimum of 12 people and maximum of 24, spaces are going to be limited so get your names down early!

Price - £10 - Upfront.
As we need to book the event with Scale Models I need your money upfront to confirm your place. Reply to this thread to confirm your intent to join us and I'll arrange payment via PayPal, bank transfer, collection in person or what ever else is convenient.

The Place
5th floor Goyt Mill
Upper Hibbert Lane
Marple
SK6 7HX
http://www.scalemodels.co.uk/

The Time
Meet from 19.30
Start racing at 20:00
Racing should take up to 2 hours depending on the number of people with time for breaks, refreshments and food.

Food
There is no food provided, you can take your own, food/drink/beer, there is a microwave.
However I'll be looking into local take outs and possible having a pizza order!

What type of FMIC is it ?
If it is the D1 (600BHP) which retains the existing plenum and pipework it is an easy DIY job that takes half a day maximum with a small cut to the front crash bar strut and some trimming of the bumper required.
For the larger FMIC where the pipework exits in the passenger side and comes back through the drivers side arch area it will need a hole cutting in the drivers wing and may need viscous fan blades trimming etc. I fitted my own D1 and am happy to assist if you have the same setup. I can recommend a very reasonable garage in central manchester (who really like Skylines). I trust them with my car for things like race suspension setup / and standard mechanicking tasks - but not sure if they would cut fan blades and wheel arches. If nobody comes back with a recommendation + Central Manchester (Ardwick) is good for you - PM me and I will pass on the details so you can enquire.

Hi Dazza...... By 'relatively straightforward' are you suggesting that any competent motor mechanic should be able to do this for me? As a completely hands OFF member I was thinking this sort of modification was best left to a Skyline experienced garage.... :)

yes mate easily but tbh im thinking more like you doing it....nothing like doing your own mods just bare in mind if you do fit it you will need a remap so just make sure you have an ecu fitted that can be mapped quite soon after installation so as not to cause damage

That's the very subject I was going to raise next..... Having only limited knowledge but being a keen reader of the club forums, my next question is: Bearing in mind my car is an automatic and I am not looking for a massive increase in bhp should I consider a custom mapping of my oe ecu with Bells Autos?
Not least because it seems to be the most economical option and my car is for road use only averaging less than 6000 miles a year.....
And I WILL take your advice and have a go at fitting the fmic myself.....
