iv got an rb25 and it tends to always overheat when drifting, after only a few laps, im guessing its the headgasket thats startin to go, what else is needed if i was to replace it

maybe its not a headgasket
old rusty radiator, problems with water pump (but I dont believe that)
maybe you should modify first cooling

better radiator, better coolant fluid, radiator cap 1.1 bar, water pump nismo n1
mine rapidly overheated on track earlier this year only to find the rad had collopsed inside itself, new rad = sorted, also noticed lower oil temps too
try flushing the rad and coolant system thru and use a good corrosion inhibitor like water wetter and see if that helps. it's the easiest thing to do to start with
any idea what sort of temps the water and oil systems got to?
maybe tell us something more about your rb25
mods ....
now its like walking through a dark wood with a candle ;)
flushing the rad wont work, just replace it as they are all blocked by the time they hit 10 years old, cheap allyo rad will definately help, where is the temp nedle when you say overheating?does it boil? how is the thermostat? is the rad evenly hot when it overheats?
its a standard engine, bar fmic. the rad is a big copper one that was fine in the other car it was in, took out the thermostat, it was flushed with fresh coolant and still happened. iv a standard gauge in it at the moment and that reads red and the coolant is bubbling from the expansion tank, could there have been damage done if it did it twice? the car just shut down it was that hot

how do i check if the rad is at fault?? its a track car so cant bring it down the road to test it, etc
if the rads good it could be an airlock or a shagged water pump, providing theres a decent fan for when you arent going along

2 fans blowing at the rad, no air in the system at all, would boiling it twice have blown the gasket??
dude its a common thing my rb25 will do the exact same thing, i used an old aircon fan (from a r32) and bolted that to the front of the rad plus i use a big oil cooler as with this as well it assists taking heat from both oil and water, use yr heater as well, run that on fan speed number2 and it will all help, its just common mate
im gonna get the oil cooler, but have i already done the damage if it done it twice?
guys form nissan should mount an oli cooler as a standard in rb25det
or learn for years - the new 370z also have problems with high temperature of oil when you want to drive faster ;)
most engine dont like getting hot mate the supra mkiii you can kiss good bye a head gasket every time it went above half way on the temp needle.

The fact your car actually shut down due to the heat would suggest there is a strong possability you have done more damage ie your head gasket. But the rb engine is actually surpprisingly tough best way to check is get a sniff test or compresstion test done if you can not see the common symptoms like milkshake under the oil cap ect.
