A wise man once told me (before he sacked me) dont poke your nose where its not wanted. However on this occasion i feel complled to:

First of all. there is a mention of this chaps user name being his numberplate, does anyone know if this is true, or does anyone know him personally or what he looks like? I can only conclude that he is either A: built like the brick sh1t house, or B: A very silly man.
He mentions that he speaks to people at meets, i wonder if he plans to be attending future meets...would be interesting to see the situations that may result, if you know what i mean!

The thread also goes onto talk about GTS Skyline. Someone once said something to me that has stuck in my mind for a long time and i have applied a simular attitude to other situations. THEY NEVER MADE A SLOW SKYLINE! But then that depends on your interpritation of slow.

Personally i would love to drive a GTR GTS GTwhatever, but cant afford to. Surely the Skyline is a great car in whatever form it takes. And what other car creates such a community! I have met loads of new friend through this car and i dont even own one! Am I being to bold when i say its more than just a car?

Not one person here is ignorant or rude enough to go on their forums and cast aspertions about RX7 drivers, or indeed drivers of any marque. So i'm wondering why he feels he has the right to pass judgement on others.

Anyway rant over let him get on with it and let him keep digging that hole. Now go and read my Doughnut thread.

I'd like to throw in my own point of view on this - GTS and GTR

Fast or Slow, turbo or not - I personally choose to drive a Skyline because of the styling, appearance and shape:) For me, personally, performance isn't the main factor I take into consideration when choosing a car.

Sure, I would like to drive a fast car too, but the bottom line for me is: I'd still have a Skyline even if it couldn't keep up with me aunt Ethel on her Zimmer...;)

(Happy to drive ANY skyline)

I have never felt the need to post "over here" as I usually say all I need to "over there" lol but Cems locked the thread and I cant be arsed to keep it going, but I find it interesting to read what is said here.

I am probably what some may call a GTR snob, I have never wanted a GTS, and performance means 90% of the overall package to me, and whilst a gts is a very quick car in its own right, a gtr is faster. I have been following Skylines since i was just 17 and a small article was published in performance car, and have been promising myself one ever since, some of you know that I am lucky enough to have realised my dream a little while ago, and now have a gtr of my own, not bad for a thick bloke who is only 28 !! lol

Now my points are these.

Firstly I did not buy a Skyline just cos it was a Skyline. The exact same thing is why I would not buy another escort unless it was a cossie.

Secondly I do not believe that what I think is the way everyone else should think, if you want a gts, then get a gts, if you want a 2litre non turbo r32 then get that, whatever floats your boat, the world is still a relatiovely free place, and we can all choose how we wish to participate, just be proud of what you do, and try to stick by your convictions.

Thirdly, I dont understand why Haplo, or others would stick a gtr badge on their car, say it wasnt for any reason than theyre own little joke and then say they were not trying to pretend to be something they are not. If you want to keep the opposition guessing then why not have NO badges at all !! however as in the part above it is a free world to do as you wish.

Finally I would say to Kris, that H4D UU appears to be a guy called Ross who I assume lives down Devon way, who knows Jason and George (pidge and batfink) and I guess drives an Rx7 !! What you do with that info is up to you. lol

Oh and double finally, I would say that this guy has a valid point if that was all people like Guy, Glen, Keith or others were doing, but as we all live in the real world, and know that these guys will be getting the cars stripped and rebuilt before they take part then the arguement is a false one. Furthermore who cares if people want to spend more money, If I buy a ferrari 575, find it slow and give it to willy koenig to twin turbo and god knows what else, why should I not feel entitled to take it to TOTB and see what she'd do??

Anyway, I hope you all had a great easter, and roll on to a fab summer of burning rubber and monster power....................byeeee

Right then

After having a good long giggle at this thread and its fore bearer on the other site ive decided to say something.

Firstly, as mr Batfink (Burt on here, and a good friend of mine) has pointed out, he's only actually aiming the post at a very few people

Secondly, The lad responsable for all this (Mr H4D UU) is also another good friend of mine. I know him too well to know that he didnt do this out of jelousy, or for wanting to try and sh1t stir.

Thirdly Ive met a lot of people (over 10!) since ive owned my car who have tried to pass of either GTS's as GTR's, or make dumb power claims. And this is reasonably close to where i live. So they do exist! Yes fair play for driving a skyline, but why try and say its something its not?!

I think this thread is well justified, if written a bit ham-fistedly!

Yeah he's a friend of mine, pay me huge amounts of cash and I'll tell you where he lives:D :D

Seriousley give the bloke a rest, he's a decent bloke and it was never his intention to stir up trouble with the GTS owners. He had the unfortunate experience of riding in Batfinks GTS and he was impressed! By the handling and performance;)

I kind of agree.

I would also add that the one person who I have seen named in the thread as "passing off" is Swishboy.

I said to a couple of people that I wasnt goin to post anything on the forum, but as this isnt GTR but Skylineowner I guess I can without breaking my word.

I think Swishboy is the biggest stroker I have had the misfortune of doing business with. Who the hell lists their car as a gts/gtr and if whats been said is true about him saying its a gtr then hes more of a twat than I thought. I for one will never buy anything off him again, and would recommend anyone who believes that internet forums like this are full of honest upright people..........a group of friends if you like...........beware the likes of him.

Thats all im gonna say on the subject, and I must also admit to having consumed a couple of glasses of vino !! :40oz:

Seeya later.....

I think there is a valid point on the ten of the best theory. I can see both sides of view....

1. You want to win, you have the cash to do so.
2. You want to enter, but dont have the cash to import the fastest Japanese Skyline you can afford.
3. You get cheesed off with people who bring specialist cars over and enter them in aforementioned TOTB.

I think that there should be a further subdivide for these majorly powered cars. I think that cars brought over as standard and modded in the UK should have their own class as opposed to cars brought into the UK already majorly modded in Japan. The problem is that you are not going to be able to police this without members help. Last year was cool, but too many ego's got bruised and this year is all out to win, whatever. You are never going to please everyone I guess, and I dont know why there is so much bitching between people who all own Skylines. Why dont you just let it rest here and get on with enjoying your cars eh???

Nice theory Lisa,

But you and I know that it would never work.

Where do you draw the line??

Is exhaust, induction a new ecu all minor??

Or do turbos make it too much work, or are 2510's ok, but 2835's considered to big a change??

Also. lets say that you wanted a car to a certain spec and asked Gary or Mark to build it, where would they get the bits.....japan.........so you say that thats ok, but what if they wanted an OS Giken lump, that comes also from japan, but is that considered a uk car or a jap one.

I cant see the point of all this bickering, lots of people who own skylines are obviously not short of a buck or three, so does it matter if they then want to buy a highly modded car, especially as its better value for money second hand, or even better value for money second hand modded from japan.

The only time I would have a problem withit is if they just brought the car over and didnt touch it and ran it at totb and then that was is, its a bit like the swedish rs200 ringers thread, its not quite cricket. But we all know guy, henry, keith and the rest will be getting the cars rebuilt, refined, whatever, so does it really matter??

NO.

lol

I think there should be a fourth part of the event added to Ten of the best as these are so called tuned road cars.

Lap the M25 in rush hour, the car must finished this event to be classified in the standings. That should sort them all out :D

Incoming.......

I just washed the car in the morning sunshine and was having a wee think about this debate.....

And I came to the conclusion that.....

The the thread on the GTR forum really wound me up at the time (tough few days at work + no patience = crabby scotsman).
Not proud of myself now particularly, but then again, I'm not gonna lose sleep over someone else's opinion as I have decided that:

I DON'T GIVE A S**T anymore!

Its a lovely day, I am off til the weekend, and frankly I am now fed up with inter-skyline bickering.

Healthy competitive jibes are cool, but I have come to the point now where I reckon each to their own, lets all enjoy our cars and remember..... We are not in it to please other people (I hope - I certainly don't really give a rat's ass about other people's opinion's 90% of the time).

Sometimes people get Soooooo serious about their cars that its quite disturbing (seen the symptoms in myself occasionally and don't like it), so I reckon roll on the summer, lazy evenings down the pub, and a generally more chilled out atmosphere, rather than 'mine's faster than yours etc etc etc'.

And anyway, I'd whip you all down a 2 mile runway and you'd better believe it ;) :D :D

V1...... Rotate..... 47,000 lbs of thrust and accelerating rapidly.

Morning Brothers & Sisters.

Well , you dont look in a forum for a weekend and look what happens. Reading through the last few days of war, I only find myself sitting here thinking as I have always done.

A car with a badge which doesnt deserve to be on it, really should only be seen at a Illegal Cruise. Maybe the owner of the car he actually stole the GTR Badge off of would step forward and volunteer to give him a kicking.

If however he purchased the badge it is mis-representation, whether he wants to throw his might around, I am sure we all agree everyone starts from somewhere.

I think that guy is missing the point, everyone has choices, his was to make himself a target. Personally I wouldnt bother falling for the bait.

Everyone needs to do what they want to do, as in every realm of ownership of type of car you will always get the , im running 9 billion BHP. In one of his statements he was saying he would ask what people run, to be honest most people dont know , they dont care. They have paid a mechanic / Tuning house to fit everything to a desired level, and hence dont care what happens as long as the car is fast.

I suggest if he thinks like this maybe he should pop across to the Ferrari Forum if there is one and ask what type of A/F ratios their members are running.

Chill dudz, nice weekend !

I would just like to point out to those not in the know, the GTr is not always the fastest skyline, take a trip over to Japan and you'll see for yourself. I have details of a Rb24 running 9.8 sec 1/4 and others too.
I don't dispite others efforts, feel second class, more like the underdog about to kick yo ass !!
I like gtr's myself and will own one (i always get what i want in the end) but for the mean time i'll be happy to suprise alot of them in my "low end Skyline" just as soon as it's finished.

sigh... people get sooo defensive dont they, i was creating an informed reasoned set of points but i really cant be arsed.

For those of you who need part time 4 wheel drive because of their affliction with "throtalis digitalis" they can have it, its their choice but for those of us who prefer a little more of a challenge and a little more excitement then the GTS is the weapon of choice

Peace

Let him race it who cares. I like looking at people who have a car, taken it and looked after it.... I like to see what they have done, and they put their time into it.

I dont like people like him who think they are obviously better that other people. Make no sense. we are all in the same boat. we like our cars, and its a bit of fun and we all get on.

well most of us.

MY turn. I have the utmost respect for anybody who spends their time, money and imagination on modding their car. I dont care if its a metro a nova or a zonda. The fact that they are interested in and have a passion for something that they can express themselves with is good.
The fact that some people have more money than others is a fact of life, so there will always be people with bigger and better, just dont shove it in the faces of people less fortunate.
The geezer that stirred the nest didnt directly call me a "knobhead" as I dont claim any bhp figures for my car as I dont know what its running, but if he did I would tear him a new arse.
A little more sensitivity and a better choice of words, some diplomacy and a more pragmatic outlook and every one gets along with each other fine.
If you want grief go around calling people knobheads, its sure to work.
