Looks like I m finally buying R34 2.5GT. It's jap import - should I change immediately stuff like engine oil, brake fluid, diff oil, gearbox oil, coolant, filters, spark plugs.. ?

What mechanics are experts in skylines in Dublin/East Ireland? What would be a good place for a VERY GOOD check up (possibly major service) on R34?

What shops for basic parts like filters (could fit at least pro air filter immediately), spark plugs, brakes etc?

thanks.

You have to know off who you are buying that skyline, is he member of this forum ? also when car been registered first in Ireland, how much roadtax left - cost will be 935 a year.. not really many garages want take skyline on service, if take, then have to pay more, than normal car, same time skyline is pretty simple car.
I have non turbo skyline, and doing everything myself, now 4 years.

from Japcars.ie.. its removed from their website since I paid deposit already. I found some not-so-good opinions about Japcars but this GT simply looks like one I always wanted (blue with original body kit) so have to deal with them now heh

I had very short test drive (twice during the same day because first time run out of petrol!) and couldn't spot any technical faults, but to be honest I don't know much about how to test used sport car so I hope this one fella from my workplace will back me up this wednesday when going to pick it up.

Well yeah one thing I spotted.. seems like very tiny little oil leak from the right back of engine (when you look from the front and above) where is upper gasket - it looks wet there but didn't see it's spilling it anywhere down or around so I don't know if this is how bad?

And timing belt has to be changed defo, it looks really bad.

Story Bud. I bought mt R34 2.0 GT from JapCars.ie and although i have also heard some horror stories about them, My car has never skipped a beat. EVER. I doubt you'll need to go changing any of the fluids except the oil every 6months'ish. Theres a good few places that'll look after your Skyline too. Not every mechanic runs from them, especially not in a recession. TDP in Rathnew just outside of Dublin would be the irish Skyline specialist, tho he generally deals with turbo 1's, if ya gotta problem and cash he or anyone else will sort it for ya. I'd recommend Paul the Nissan Doctor too. He's owned a few Skylines R32 R33 350GT @the mo. I think its abit of a myth that people run a mile from Skylines. If u got the money, they got the answer, ya know.

I have my car 3years now n all i ever do is change the oil and filter every 6months(Which can be gotton in any motorfactors) and give the Cone filter a flush to clean it. Dont worry about maintanance dude. The Skyline will last ya just fine. And make sure ya buzz along to the next meet. Theres 1 on the 3rd of Nov. They do be great buzz...
Also check out INOC.ie IrishNissanOwnersClub, The local lads on there have Animal info too. Loads of Skylines there aswell...

Very best of luck with the new car man...

thanks Áce, nice info here
I asked today at Discount (http://www.discounttyres.ie/servicing.html) in Blanch and they said Skylines are fine they can get parts

but yeah.. didn't buy that blue skyline because it was crashed at the front, maybe rear also, was pulling slightly to the left and transmission made weird sound. On thursday looking another GT.... fingers crossed!
