I have found a GTV "Legal" (he says its legal and he has been legit but ill find out more once i commit to the buy) for 28K. first off is that an average price? but my main question here is what all is needed to convert it to GTR? heres my plan
-Buy the GTV
-Buy a R32 GTR motor/trans
-Upgrade internals of the RB26DETT
-Swap the RB25DE with the RB26DETT
-Then work on body for the GTR swap

now i know the wiring will be a nightmare but i enjoy wiring so it wont be too much of an issue

but here are some questions i have
-what drive shaft will i use
-will i need new front wheel hubs (RWD->AWD)?
-will the radiator hoses from the GTV work with the RB26?
-what else will i need to buy?
- front axels
- I/c and piping
-what am i missing?
im sure there is quite a bit more that i havent thought about quite yet. im just here to see if i could get some guidance on if i wanna buy this GTV or just wait and save up for a GTR

i know itll be pretty expensive for the swap
RB26DETT w/ accessorizes and trans - $3,200
i dont think axels/interooler with piping will be too terribly much but im just here to weigh my options

I don't know the ins-and-outs of it all but only the Motorex R34's are the true legit cars

Converting a non 4WD skyline to 4WD is a massive job as they don't share the same chassis

well that explains why everyone keeps the skyline GTT's RWD when they do RB26 swap. I thought it would be as simple as swapping the trans and getting new hubs for the axels to go into. anyone have more info on what makes the job so massive?

No chance it's federally legal. GTV was never on the import list. At best, it's state legal which means if you buy it, then try and register it, there's a really good chance they'll seize your car upon inspection. From there, they give you 5 days to export it or crush it.

Check this list for legal models: Vehicle Importation and Certification Requirements

Also, you can run VIN's/bond release info against a national database (sorry, i'm forgetting the name) and it'll tell you if it was legally imported.

I suggest you look elsewhere. R34's go for $100k+ in the US and the only legal ones were from Motorex of which there were 6.
