Hey guys, im new to the world of Nissan and Im thinking about doing a +T conversion on my R34. I've got majority of the parts but I cant find any info if the wiring harness needs to be replaced?
Also do Neo engines run a pink sticker afm standard?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Really? Barely worth the time, effort and cost to +t an RB20... especially considering the limitations compared to its bigger RB25 brother.
By the time you factor in everything, including the ECU and tuning you could have a RB25DET putting down more power.
Don't wanna sound negative... but "projects" like this get abandoned and sold on trademe as incomplete projects because people bite off far more than they can chew. I also know someone that's done a +t, he's said he'd never ever do it again. It's best to start with the right platform and modify that... not use the entry level, poverty pack engine. The RB20DE is an economical cruiser.... leave it as that :)

Also... welcome aboard :bigthumb:

Hi guys I am new to skyline world too and a huge fan of skyline and GTRs.. I just bought a skyline R34 4door with RB20DE neo straight engine.. Got it cheap and now after reading about skylines just realized should have bought a coupe with a better engine.. However to get the maximum out of what i have any suggestions of increasing the boost..?? Already replaced the filter with a pod and 4inch exhaust tail end.. Any suggestions are welcome and also can go and meet anyone in auckland to get some advices or work done.. Cheers

Welcome aboard :bigthumb:

Boost doesn't exist on a non turbo engine.... so increasing it is out of the question.
You may have lost power with that POD, the R34 air box flows pretty well so a high flow panel filter would probably be better in the factory air box. If you're set on a pod though, a cold air intake/cold air box will definitely help to feed it cold air as opposed to hot engine bay air.
Apart from a free flowing exhaust (2.5" tops) there isn't a whole lot you can do to extract much power from that engine without spending big bucks.
Let it be what it does best - a daily cruiser, not a big HP monster :)

Hi mate thanks for your reply.. Cheers.. Thats pretty much what i expected as a answer after reading whole lot of reviews..

So to clarify u r saying if I had the original box air intake with probably a K&N panel filter will it help for better performance than a pod?

Or is there any place or person that i could take the car to get it checked and get some advices here in auckland?

To be honest I am not after a huge output out of this engine but a little better output than what it gives as It is never been touched and I have not done any tuning etc since I bought..

So any advices or any one that can check the car out for me as i would not mind spending a small amount to do a minor modification to get a little better output or a boost than what it does now would be highly appreciated till i can afford to buy a coupe with a 20 or 25det..

Sorry for the long one thou..

Yep, fitting a pod filter doesn't automatically gain you any power. It's basic physics.... the colder the air, the bigger the bang (more O2 per cubic cm because cold air is denser than warm air). A pod without a cold air box/intake is sucking in hot engine bay air. A high flow panel filter in a well designed air box gets the best of both worlds - high flow and cold air.
I made my own cold air box/intake, have a look through the threads I've made - it's nearer the end of the list.
You can talk to all the people you like... but it won't change the fact performance is not going to come easy or cheap for that engine. It's the entry level engine in the R34 range. Don't let anyone tell you Iridium or Platinum plugs will help you gain power. It's pure myth and they just make 4-5x the money out of you compared to the correct plugs.
There isn't really anywhere you can take your car to tune/tweak it.... once the air can flow in and out freely (air filter and exhaust), there isn't a whole lot more you can do that is cheap or easy. The gains made by those mods will be minimal at best anyway...
The more you do to it, the more likely you need to chip or change the ECU... that alone can be a very expensive thing to buy and tune (more for turbo applications).

From my standpoint, I'd advise against it.

Tuning Neo's is NOT easy when done right.

If you're looking to head down this path - I'd advise the quickest and easiest route is to buy a seond hand 25det neo and start from there, as you'll have the forged internals that are happy to work with boost.

You'll also need to strengthen your suspension, brakes and transmission.

All up mate - find a GT-t and grab that, as it'll probably work out cheaper! :)

Nice! Are you happy with the upgrade?
Without knowing if there are any common faults etc... I'd remove it and test for powers. If it's getting permanent and accessory power, the fault must be within the unit

Hi guys need help here.. I was driving my car last week and it was really smooth and all of a sudden A/T bulb came up on the dash and revs went up to 4000 and i was driving in auto. When i check the triptronic gear was showing as 4th but i feel it was on 3rd.. Then i switch the engine off and start the car it was all good and drove many K's without a problem.. Does anyone knows what is this problem and how to fix.. Did some reading on google and it seems this is a common issue with R34 rb25de neo engines but could jot find a fix.. Will this be ok if i replace the gear handle unit with a new one? Kindly advise if i can take the car to anyone in Auckland to get it checked.. Cheers guys

tried to reply. but yah your not going get boost from your na unless you super charge or turbo it, also your gunna slowly kill the car trying to run a 4" exhaust on a na running 165 stock at most and being under 400hp. Over time AND if you drive it harder it will just get worse and worse, If you can tune the air and fuel, Id be safe running a 2.5 or a 3" but even the 3" might be pushing it. How it the progress since the msg have you made any progress forwards?
