R34 Stereo wiring issue

I just installed a pioneer double din dvd receiver. (first time install) i used a 240SX wiring harness because they seemed to match up.

Everything looked good after the install but the audio is really faint, and my front right speaker isn't getting any audio.

I can take a picture of my wiring, and maybe someone can see if I missed something somewhere.

I also read somewhere that the color matching is different from U.S stereos in Jap cars.

Any ideas?

Firstly, no such thing. The stereo plugs are generic for almost ALL Nissans in a certain era (they used the same yellow/white plug in all stereos from the late 80's ---> 1995, another stereo plug took over from 1995 --> 2002 (iirc))

Secondly... I've fitted many, many stereos (a lot using the ISO wiring harnesses) but I ALWAYS test the wiring before I connect anything.
Problem is, that not working speaker may not have anything to do with the new stereo... but it might.
Was the speaker working before the new stereo went in?
Depending where the speaker problem is, continued use of your stereo may end up frying either - that channel OR the stereos entire amp.
You need to find the problem immediately.

It's really hard to guide you with this problem.... if you brought the car to me I'd spend time fault finding and testing wires, but that's something you learn with experience etc... it's very hard to pass on that info over the net.

Take some pics of the wiring and post them up... you never know, it might help!

Hey, I had a similar issue when fitting a JVC head unit to my 34 except it was the rear speakers that stopped working. They were fine before and they worked when I reconnected the original head unit to check. The "ICE Expert" in Halfords said the speakers were Fubar and I needed to replace. So, once I told him he didn't know anything, I got a refund for the "correct wiring harness" they supplied and went to sextons. They sold me an adapter harness for a Micra which fitted fine and no issues whatsoever since. Been in there over a year and all is well.
I'm not suggesting this is the issue with your car, just that I've had a similar prob. Might wanna check there are no dodgy connections etc. good luck

You were right to tell him that lol... but he would say that to try make a sale

Did the wiring harness Halfords sold you physically plug into your cars stereo plugs? Or was it completely the wrong style plug and they physically didn't match?

Yes and no, there were four separate connectors, my car only needed two, so of the four, there were two that fitted and the other two were just hanging lose. The colours of the wires matched up for power, ilumination, remote wire etc but it just didn't look "right"if ya know what I mean...

I don't use halfords anymore except if I know exactly what I need and it's an emergency!!

4 plugs on the Halfords harness ..?! Yeah, that is odd!
Nissans of that era only ever have 2 stereo plugs, no exceptions (ok, R32s have a 3rd plug for the dash controls - but it's irrelevant when connecting an aftermarket stereo)
But if 2 of the plugs did plug in, I'd say some wiring was incorrect.... It does happen on the wiring harnesses (not common, but not unheard of) - which is the exact reason I test everything before I connect it. If I'm correct with that theory, that's not a Halfords problem, the manufacturer of the harness is at fault.
Not that it really matters, from what I read about Halfords on here... most people avoid them like the plague anyway haha

The stereo and speakers were working just fine before, i'm hoping tomorrow J_cool can help me out, if not i'm going to assume that I blew the stereo amp and tell crutchfield to replace it.
