I'll be changing my thermostat some time this week as the temp gauge only moves to 1/4 of the gauge even after a long a drive. I have a PDF of how to do it so I'm not wondering how to do it.

What has got me wondering is why has Nissan put the thermostat at the bottom of the engine? Most engines, in-fact every engine I have come across, has the thermostat at the top of the engine.

Can anyone come up with a logical idea why Nissan put it down there?
