Just been to the pub and promptly turned round and came home...

Turns out some football game is on and you can't even get to the bar thanks to a large collection of 20 something morons with orange skin and identical hair styles.

Oh well :(

I don't see the point, it's only a game FFS. So why there's so much money involved, fighting, etc, I don't know.
i went down funnily enough to get a tent off one of my mates who works on the door there

they have to have 2 extra door staff on for every foot ball game

and this is a nice, quite pub in a small town!!! how much trouble are they expecting in big places

morons

you never see petrol heads fighting over who won the F1 do you lol

I don't like football but I did watch a few matchs and had to turn them off near the end out of Bordem lol, but what is exciting to us (drifting etc) might be boring to a footballist  I like that word.... Footballist

i know that mate :)

it's not people that like football that annoy me, if they want to spend a fortune on their hobby then why shouldn't they, I do on mine

what annoys me is that people who like football, and institutions like the press both assume that EVERYONE knows about and likes football lol

why should football take up 20 mins of the news every hour and yet there is barely ever anything else in the "sport" section

and why do they have to bang on about it all the time on TV... even on skysports F1... emphasis on F1... they talk about football/mention it/use football terminology all the time and it's ruddy annoying lol

I don't get why players earn millions for just kicking a ball about.
Agreed! Don't get me wrong, I'll watch it with the best of the rest of them but believe salaries are obscene.

I workes out a nurse would have to work over 10 YEARS to earn the same as Wayne Rooney does in a WEEK

capitalism for you... people will pay money to idealise them, buy their clothes etc so the clubs will pay money to employ them and companies will pay money to anyone who can get them associated with the players that morons idealise

no different to F1 in fairness lol

I was a football fan for a long time, not a big fan, like i didn't know players names (or not many) but i went to the odd game

when i was 13 i went shopping in Newcastle with some friends

A 17/18/19 year old newcastle fan herd my accent and saw me wareing a Red top with "smoggy" written on it (note NOT a football top)

turned out middlesbrough were playing newcastle that day

he walked up to me, in a shopping center and punched me in the face... i mean full on smacked me

and just walked off... called me a "fing c..t" for supporting boro!!!! i didn't even support them!

i decided then and there i wanted sod all to do with the sport or the people that go nuts/fight over it

A nurse cant sell 10 million pounds worth of NHS uniform to the public.

This is why i support a 'football' club that struggles between league one and the championship but i wouldnt have it any other way. The teams referred to in the previous posts on this thread i and many fellow 'football' supporters would call them soccer clubs with soccer fans. They are the type of supporter that has their whole family wearing 'soccer' shirts while on holiday in Florida, they are also prepared to have their face painted and wear foam hands on any given occassion, in short soccer fans are an embarrassment to football fans.

Man u, man city, arsenal, chelsea, liverpool, norwich, villa, coventry, qpr, newcastle are all soccer clubs with soccer fans.

everton, westham, birmingham, leeds, sunderland, spurs, fulham, sheffield utd, sheff weds are still football clubs with football fans.

Portsmouth turned into a soccer club for a season or two but luckily look to be turning back into a football club again, cardiff look to be going the opposite way.

just my opinion mind :)

no i havn't for a few years to be fair but they do come accross as the poor relation out of the two big clubs up there. I have however seen newcastle fans waving foam hands in the air.

I think the point where a football club becomes a soccer club is when the ticket prices become too expensive for a working class chap to take his two kids to a match so you end up with a stadium of middle class fans that moan at you if you stand up or swear at the ref etc during the match even though they have spent the whole of the match talking about where they will be playing a round of golf the following day .

Also hardly any prem games on a saturday now so none of the old finish work friday then off for a couple of beers and the match with the lads saturday to wind down. Now its Wednesday night at 8 pm when you have work the next day, your young kids have to stay up till midnight by the time your home, with school in the morning.

Why dont the middle class stick to rugby union, tennis, cricket and leave rugby league and football to the working class.

Lol I've been to loads of football matchs standing in home end because not been able to get a ticket in away stand never had any problem even when i celebrate when we score.
Also yes they get paid to much but so do f1 drivers and tons of other sports stars , and its football not soccer

I think top f1 drivers may even get more than top paid footballers and even tho motor sport can be dangerous its a choice and im sure there quite happy with there wages.
And after sky have just paid the premier league 3billion and bt 738 million for right to show premier games am sure wages may continue to increase.
