Have had a dis-agreement with a neighbour who's a complete Ford nut, and he reckons that Fords are more reliable than Nissans....What a load of bollocks!. I have had 5 nissans over the past 15 years and I have not had a problem with reliability. started first time and only went wrong if I tried to mess around when there was nothing round in the first place. Has anyone else ever had reliability problems, please reply so I acn show this Knob that he is talking out of this arse!!!.

I`d have to agree with you there. Never been let down by the skyline apart from battery having the battery die. It was the original 1 though & lasted nearly 10 years. Jap cars are the most reliable cars on the planet. Everyone knows that.
Although i have got a heavily modded RS Turbo that starts 1st time every time.
Maybe im just lucky.

Nissans definatly more reliable, having owned a skyline, almera, primera, cherry and cabstar and only had a couple of probs with the skyline which really only came down to the fact that i'm tuning/maintaining it myself.

But then again i may be biased as i'm an undercover agent for the anti-ford league...damn blown my cover..

Japanese cars in general are more reliable i feel and as the owner of an escort (work car) i think i can safely say that reliability is an issue Ford need to address as well as engine bay design. The 200sx/MR2 gts that i used to own never let me down and the Skyline hasn't either yet.

Skyline GTS-25T

Ran a '93 one for three and a half years, in which time I put 53000 miles on the car. This was running the japanese chip on SUL. The biggest thing I had to replace was the water pump.
Utterly reliable.

Ask the Ford man which bit of his dash glows on damp mornings or in downpours. Always found that Fords & damp never got on.

Ignore him.

He started, you finished, he hasn't noticed.

Which is why you have a Skyline and he has a Ford. Higher reasoning functions and genetics are on your side. :D

Failing that, talk him in to pushing his car to as near 1000bhp as possible, then try & get him to corner at speed like a Skyline, then you can enter his demise in the Darwin awards.

Nissan!

Having owned a substantial amount of performance cars including Cosworths, RS Turbos , GTiR, Evo's,even a Renault 5:rolleyes:

I can say hand on hart that my Skyline's have been the most reliable, i have not had any trouble with my R33 and my heavily modded R32 just seems to take any abuse i can throw at it, but that may be down to Mr rod Bell's wizardry!!;)

Although the R32 was never a UK sold car bothe the R33 and R34 were available in UK and Jap spec's from Middlehursts!!

I had the same sort of discussion with a mate of mine who has spent £19,995 on a Focus RS!! with wait for it 212 bhp whooppee dooo!!! cant wait till he gets the car and show him how slow Focus's really are!! hee hee!:D

I find it funny Cipher that your ragging on Fords. Especially since Nissan named it's car division 'Datsun' till 1984, just to protect the Nissan family name just in case the car side of the enterprise flopped.

While, i'd rather have a Skyline than a Cosworth, that's not to say that Fords or Cosworths are crap. Far from it. But everyone knows that Japanese cars are more reliable than a Ford just as everyone knows Japanese cars are more expensive to tune and fix/repair than a Ford.

Nevertheless, no need to rag on other car marques. Let's all just get along. I'm a fan of any exciting, fast car.

ex-Datsun 260z car owner and current Ford guy.
