Hi guys

Just after selling my 300zx and now thinking about one of the above, just wondering what your views are on the pro's and con's of the three, my budget is up to the 20k.

I wanting a good amount of reliable power with matched handling

im also biased towards the skyline..and with a budget of 20k..get yourself a nicely sorted 33GTR..evos are common as muck as for cossies never had any experience with one...im sure there will be plenty of good input from other members who will give you the rundown on each!!!!

I agree with MIN T3R Evos are common as muck, not quite as much as scoobs but just about there. I am Skyline biased, you can still go round corners pretty quick!

20k !! Wish i had that much to spend on an R33 GTR ,you could get a right monster for that,oh the possabilities  We are all goin be biased on this forum i suppose :D but with that much dosh spent on an R33 Gtr,i think most contenders would just be getting high on your exhaust fumes:devil: Get the GTR and as well as performance you will have the class! :D

* A sorted Escort Cosworth would be nice. But would you want to leave it parked in town??? Not the sort of car that mingles in with the other is it!!- I'd worry about leaving it anywhere.

* Evo's are common but they do handle and go very well round the twisties from what i've seen................

* Skyline R33 GTR, would get a very nice one for the cash you have to spend. There also not as common as your Evo's but then again how often do you see an escort cosworth on the my daily drive is.......

- Or BIGCHIEFS old black GTS-T 600BHP sold for £10.5K- bargin buy if i had the cash i would have bought it ASAP!:D

Failing everything test drive them all and see what you get on best with..... I'm tempted to chop mine in and get a limited edition scooby. Always wanted one, sound nice-to me anyway, can insure it now aswell which helps.

You'll end up getting answers until the cows come home.......

My main bit of advice would be to go and drive all 3 , and make it a few of each so you get a true mix of different models and levels of tuning. I've not driven a cossie but I have been a passenger and the evo and skyline both "feel" much firmer and more responsive and alert to when cornering and putting the power down - but that's just my 5pence worth.

There are a multitude of choices out there and it's worth taking your time to find the one for you.

Good luck

oh and Welcome :D

Neither. I'd go for a Noble(Silver or Blue colour) for that money. A car that's quick on the road and can be driven on the track.

Have driven all the three mentioned.

Cossie: Will break down all the time and is a hoddies fav to nick.
Skyline GTR: Can be used daily and realiable upto 500bhp for everyday use.
EVO: Great car through twisty roads(A go kart with a turbo) and quite new. Must say I didn't like driving on the motorway with the Evo long distances.

cossie will only ever go up in price compared to the others which the prices are dropping like flys.
cossie and evo both handdle very very well but you can't play that much with them where's the skyline will kick the arse end out for you.
cossie a little less reliable than the others and the gtr is the most reliable.
all very tunable but skyline more so.
wow factor i think the cossie and skyline have it but the cossie wilol turn more heads.
all cost about the same to run insure and buy.
its a very personal thing but to be fair i would say escort cosworth

mmmmm let me guess what most people would say to buy when yo ask that question on a skyline forum? i would love a escort cosworth but they can be unreliable if not looked after. if i was going to get any cosworth it would have to be a rs500 3 door. but for 20k you could buy a very very quick skyline just like Keith did and have money left over for another car for everyday use.

you could buy a very fast cosworth for that as well.yep they not quite as reliable as a skyline but then a high power skyline isn't great.
you can compare a r34 gtr as you can buy a **** one for 23/24k but to get a good nick well looked after r34 with history then 28k is more like it.
a rs500 is the daddy but i don't think its the car for you if you want 4wd grip as they are tail happy to say the least.
it has to be a car you dream about as its so much moey to sunk on a 12 year old car that when it needs something you want to keep the car.

OMG LES... Scoobs are great but DONT do it don't buy a scoob unless you have lots of money to blow away in depreciation. Scoobs dont even make 'book' prices. Ltd edition or not. (I'll let you off with a P1)

Evo6, better handling and Skylines are about as rare as focus', don't like Evo 7 or 8's thats when they started modelling them on family saloons and dropping a ridiculous spoiler on it.

I like the escort cossie, but as said before you couldn't leave it anywhere without a runt keying it.
and they never depreciated so for a the same reg as the other two you're paying way over the odds for what you've actually got.

i'm not biased.

always wanted as cossie car i grew up lusting after, but now i can afford one cant really justify one because
1, cant leave it anywhere without worrying (thieving /vandalism)
2, reliability my m8 had an early large turbo model totally standard and was nothing but trouble (he had it from 2 year old !!)
3, too many chavs in 1.3 escorts with cossie kits (sounds a bit snobby i know but wouldnt want people thinking i drove a fake)
4, although insurance group the same as the rest prices still appear higher ?

my other choices were the same skyline / evo or holden, never found a holden , the evo's are great but id end up spending a fortune on modding to make it more individual, so went for the exclusivity of the skyline. i only had 15k mind you and for 20k i would be looking at a lot more car, my choice would be
noble
vauxhall monaro
300cc
sorted r33 gtr
audi rs4 ?
ok i know pushin a little on price for some of them but shoppin around, or a very good r33 for the 10k mark 5 k on mods and a 5 k holiday :)

wish i had your problem

£20K a Noble all the way. What a car to drive and rare as rocking horse dung to see on the road. Luckly I see my snooker mate drving it very often around South Wales.
