Ive always wondered what insurance group my car is....i was told it is a 19 which is high considering they only go upto 20!!! so that doesnt leave much difference between our cars and say a supercar (farrari)

So does anyone know what insurnace group my car is R32 GTST....and any other you may know as well would be good to know as well.

The groups 20 but you also have to add other factors. It does not mean you will pay the same price for a lambo. Of all the groups 20 is the biggest bracket.

all imports are group 20 i think, its not just about performance. this also takes into account things like cost of parts. parts for a skyline/supra etc will generally cost more than a saxo cos they dont go to cheap places, they go to recognised dealers. i was quoted £4500 by my insurance company but thanks to some hard work and determination a mate at a specialist garage repaired it for £1500

really theres been higher groups than group 20 for years its just that insurance company's group them different upto and beyond the high group 20...i dont think getting insurance for a skyline and a Lamborghini would be the same...

heres parkers guide too group 20 cars http://www.parkers.co.uk/insurance/Groups/by-group.aspx?ig=20 bit for a joke really how half these cars can be in same group

Mine is group 20d.As said all are group 20 and then you get to a point where only companies who insure modified cars will look at insuring you, plus I am an old git with road rage tendancies lol.Cheers.

tbh you wouldnt insure a ferrari thru tesco anyway lol, remember reading in the paper about a guy that won the lottery and when he bought a ferrari the dealer arranged something called a portfolio insurance (i think).

insurance companies as standard rate cars from 1 - 20. Norwich Union have just changed their own scales to work from 21 - 50 to offer more competative premiums.

along with the insurance groups you have segment codes a,b,c etc. Eg a segment 'A' is a 3 door hatchback so a citroen saxo 3dr 998cc would be a group 3 segent 'A' for example.

When you enter the vehicle reg in to the system, unless your car's an import, it generally pulls through all this information through from the association of british insurers (ABI) table. More or less everything about your car effects the price: engine size, segment, body type, transmission, fuel type, and the make of the car so a group 15 rover might not be as expensive to insure as a group 15 toyota due to these variations and would make a veyron more expensive to insure than a Skyline

The only reason you would pay more for a Lambo is because they are worth a tiny bit more than a Skyline....Just a tiny bit more.

Skyline premiums are high for one reason and this is fact ask any insurance broker ... nothing to do with power , the premuims are not based on its insurance group either

statiscally written off within 3 weeks of ownership , wannabe drifters / cheap ebay cars and kids happy to pay £3k premuims

Scoobys and Evo's are due to theft statistics

premuims be it a GTR or GTST are pretty much the same ( depending on your driving record NCB etc)

same for me to insure a GTR as my GTS , i went for a GTS as more fun as a drivers car being RWD , less weight too , GTR in myview is if you want real big power having to spend less than you would on a GTST to get the power ,

its been said before you get a GTR and GTST with same power the GTST will be quicker to a point as lighter and no transmission loss , but at end of day you chose either model dependng on how far you want to go budgets etc etc

i pay £450.00 F/C protected with A Plan
