What's the max hp you can drag out of the standard AFM before you need to go up to a Z32 one? And how much boost can the engine take on the standard head gasket?
If I was to change it for a steel one, what's the best thickness/bore size and gasket type? I've seen all sorts of different bore sizes available, plus seen gasket listed as 'bead' and 'grommet' type, or something close to that. Can anyone shed some light on what those mean.

I think the maximum bhp you can pull through a standard afm is about 350bhp befor needing to upgrade!

The maximum boost you can run on a standard head gasket is 1.2bar but bear in mind the standard turbo can only take 0.85 bar!

Wouldnt like to say what gasket to go for, but im sure someone will shed some light on that department!

mine ran 325 @ the fly on the standard afm a couple of weeks back, the afm being the limiting factor for tuning for any more power on my setup.

z32 afm been delivered now tho so remap in a few weeks

as far as head gaskets go, grommet and bead are different designs, one being more expensive but better. see here... http://www.hksusa.com/products/more.asp?id=732

I think I'll take the plunge and order a Z32 afm and metal head gasket then.
Anyone know what bore size I need and can recommend a thickness too?

Tomei do 80.5 bore with the following thickness:
1.2
1.5
1.8

Trust do both 79 and 83mm bore with:
1.0
1.5
2.0

I've no idea which one would be best.
