The Buttertubs Run started life as a SOC event back when I used to be a rep (and owned a Skyline) but has grown way beyond that now. On the past couple of events last year we had around 100 cars come along from all over the North of England, which is why I'm posting this in here as well as the North East section.

The Buttertubs Run is a petrolheads day out in the Yorkshire Dales and it's free. All cars are welcome but you have to know how to drive!

The start line is at Boroughbridge services, 9am on Sunday 3rd April.

Looks cool but I noticed you say you need to know how to drive so I'm assuming these roads are closed off and the speed limits been lifted ?

I did an event once where someone turned up and insisted on doing 5mph less than the posted speed limit the whole way despite the queue of frustrated cars behind them. We also have had a few people not make it up the steep incline toward the highest pub in England, have to turn around and head home. So, there's always this disclaimer, you have to know how to drive. It's not a park up and toss off over how pretty your car looks parked event, it's an event for drivers ;)

I should say that if parking up and touching yourself to the sight of lots of pretty cars is your thing, there's plenty of opportunity to do that too!

A pic from the first pitstop, ice cream breakfast at Brymor...

A couple from the lunch pitstop at Hawes...

Sorry bud if It sounded like I were being pedantic I weren't I just assumed we had some roads closed and yes I'm up for this it could be a good day out its been a while since I've done anything decent in the car with the wife I've also no problem keeping up with other motors but you always get one clown who drives at half the speed limit that's posted, try living round here I often get close to ploughing into the back of folk when they're doing 30mph in a 60 zone lol

Da Fuq?

Were they driving a pedal powered car?
Lots of power, rear wheel drive, it's a steep bank with 2 very tight corners and dodgy camber. It is pretty tricky to be fair, but I've managed it on everything from a motorbike to a pickup to my E30 BMW which has almost no traction.

This is just the bottom of the hill, don't think we have a pic of the full thing.

So there you go, if you come along you have to drive well, don't hurt anybodies pride and joy including your own, and beat the hill that sorts the men from the boys!

Everyones welcome bud.

Don't take the rules too seriously, I'm a little paranoid about any legal types reading something online and get the impression we're out there street racing or something, it's just some great roads in some great cars with a bit of real dairy ice cream for breakfast!

If you have some shrapnel occupying space in your pockets, we'll be happy to take it off your hands.

There are stickers available for anyone who wants them, all you need to do is make the charity bucket rattle. All money collected goes to Yorkshire Air Ambulance. There's no minimum since I hate when charities do that "for just £10 per month ..." bollocks. Give what you want to give and get a shiny new sticker which instantly adds 5hp to your car.

I know that feeling bud. I've just got my E30 back today after being off the road for over 18 months. It's going so well now though, looking forward to stretching her legs.

If you really wanted to you could hire something fun for the day. Can be a little pricey but makes for some good photos. I hired the Lotus Esprit for the run this time last year from these guys, really friendly lads and supporters of the event: Classic Car Hire | Yorkshire based classic car hire for the North
