So, yesterday - 16th May 2013 - was the 70th anniversary of The Dambusters raids.

I went along to Derwent Reservoir to spectate the memorial flypast for this event - the flypast consisted of a Spitfire, Lancaster and 2 Tornado GR4's from the current 617 Squadron.

The reservoir was packed with hundreds of people watching from the shoreline and up in the hills - I was on the shoreline as by the time I got there and parked up it was too late to climb up the hill (and i'm not that fit either lol).

So, here's a photo of the BBMF Lancaster bomber flying over the Derwent Reservoir.

Any more pics? I'm based on the cement works on the other side of the hill and we had our own mini display, the Lancaster and Spitfire did a lap of the chimney on the way from chapel on le frith to the dams.

It's amazing how something so big and heavy manages to stay in the sky at the speed it goes.
Yes, I have more pics - I only posted this one as it's my own personal favourite.

The following link will take you to the rest of the pics from yesterday http://www.flickr.com/photos/gary_smithdale/sets/72157633500708997/

Thanks for looking :)
