Actually the water pumps in most cars are over specified, because they have to pump water round the block OK at lower speeds.
What tends to happen is that at high rpms stock water pumps starts cavitating and its this that stops them pumping properly.
The N1 type uprated pump has larger, deeper blades and an anti cavitation desinged backplate.
perhaps of more interest to you as you have a bent pulley, you can get underdrive pulley wheels, which slow the pump, enabling you to run higher rpm.
