hi,i bought my r33 about 2 months ago and the car is coming along nicly with some tasteful mods. Now the tax is due at end of the month and the logbook has not arrived so i phone dvla and they said they will release the log when i have a ''vehical identification check'' which will cost me 38 pounds. Have i got anything to worry about, the numbers on the car match eachother and the plates all match the car. Have any of you had to have VIC before.......no anyone that can help me with this?
Regards Will

my mate bought a cheap mr2 that had paint stripper put on it and it needed a vic check because it was written off by the insurance company even though it was just paint damage and just because it looks ok it still may be hiding past history

by reading those two links it looks like your car has been written off in some way before you bought it. was it bought from a garage

Not nice - basically unless you did a car check you are unlikely to know.............until you apply for the V5. In fact, you should have got a letter 2 weeks - 6 weeks after buying it informing you that the V5 will be sent once you have sent them the VIC form. The test is easy enough, do not be late & do make sure there is no sh1t in the car, They are just making sure its not a ringer.
