walbro help

Hi just brought a Walbro fuel pump and just trying to fit it, I guess you have to use the live and earth off the old pump and connect with live and earth wires you get with the walbro pump. Is this right?
I was going to use electrical connectors with plastic casing to connect but will these melt in the fuel tank? I dont want them to melt and the wires touch together and short out... boom!
Been looking for stainless connectors as normal ones mite rust? Cant get them?
Hope this makes sense
Thanks

If you cut the wires staggerd "ie" one near top and one near bottom then they cant touch. Normal connections should be okay though.
I had the same thoughts a few weeks ago. I soldered the wires (staggered) then I used petrol resistant heat shrink wrap (tested it in petrol first) and it's 100% safe. Normal heat shrink wrap will melt. It's expensive, bought it from farnell.com, can't find the reference number but I'll have a look for you.
Why dident I think of soldering?? lol
Stager the wires thanks.
Does it need shrink wrap?
Thanks
Does it need shrink wrap?
Thanks
See my post above
Sorry did see your post. I was checking if shrink wrap is necessary
I wouldn't risk not shrink wrapping them!

Ok I found the info. You need ISO 1817 compatible heat shrink wrap.

You can buy it there.
Right ok thanks for your help
Installed mine a few weeks ago and didn't shrink wrap anything and i've not caught fire yet. Can't hurt to do so though. As above i went for the soldering method after cutting the stupidly long wires short.
just done my mates & we took apart the connector on the walbro pump then just put spade connectors on old wiring & then placed into walbro plastic housing , job done.
would be easier to just through crimp them tbh, saves spending money on shrink wrap etc. ive through crimped both walbros on 2 cars and not had a problem.

just an idea if you want to save money :)

Where did you get the crimps from bud?
you can purchase butt-connectors at any automotive retailer.
