Help..not a new problem for a 33...
My boot is letting in water, surprise, surprise,it is coming in through the rear light units.
Problem is,cant get the light clusters out, well sealed in.
Removed the nuts, gental tapping and levering...threatening language,etc...wont budge.
Thinking of using a hot air gun(carefully)to melt sealant.
Any ideas......??Ta!!

They use a very strong active sealant. The thing you need to do like they said, is use brute force. Levering them out from the outside is a bad idea because that will tend to cause damage. You need to push hard, and constant, from the inside and they will slowly come out.

Thought that would be the result, levering is out!.
Heres the plan,then...
1/Make a reversible wooden dolley that picks up on studs.
2/Gently heat from inside.
3/Use dolley to get even push.

Success....Re-seal lights.

Or....swear a lot in my boot on New Years day with a hangover, leave the lights in and seal from inside....!!!

I had the same problem on my 32. started with the brute force approach, then when I could get a blade into the sealent i started cutting it bit by bittill it worked all the way round. Mission accomplished, no damage. (yippee) then resealed and put back in. Doddle really. (I wish lol)
