you must be thinking what an idiot i am lol, heres the situation:-

i bought a oil cooler filter relocation kit and the fittings are universal for the filter so i went down halfords opening every filter they had on the self trying to find a match on my relocation kit after going through a few of them and then i came across the one that fit perfectly on the oil relocation unit its was labled 204, which i then checked on their little book it was for a diesel car, now i know a oil filter just filters the oil its not a big deal all oil filters do the same job off course, just thought id ask here before running the car with it.

so does it really matter if the filter im about to use is for a diesel car?

So long as its a turbo diesel filter. They and we use synthetic or semi-synthetic oil so there shouldn't be any problem. Just smear some oil on the rubber lip of the filter before you tighten it up.
