Hi, I went to go for a drive earlier when I noticed a very noticeable sound clunking away in the engine bay...it sounds like it is coming from the big fan or somewhere near there, any idea's what it could be ?.....sound's terrible !? ???

Please reply asap

Has that belt snapped?
Nah its not that... I was going to remove that today but couldn't get my hand and the snips in the gap to do it.... ! ?? - Martin.
I though it could be the large fan...But it doesn't appear to be catching on anything, anyone have a clue what else could be making this noise ??
Bearing on the viscous fan.....my 32 did that....sounded terrible.
Get that sorted before it damages something.

How much am I looking at to get that repaired ?? - Martin.
Ah cool, so its the whole fan as opposed to just a bearing ? - Martin.
Not sure as I had mine done with a load of other stuff.
If I get 10 mins tomorrow I'll hunt out the bill.
I think I paid 20-30quid for the fan and then fitting.

Ok Cheers :) - Martin.
The seriously damaged belt that u haven't changed has probably started ripping apart more and it's spinning round hitting things and if u leave it long enough it can get wrapped round lower crank and cause timing belt to snap.

I removed the AC belt today...and after fixing the knocking sound I will remove the rest of the AC install..

But to be clear thats no longer a problem/hazard :) - Martin.
