Gap in window seals after removing wind deflectors

OK - so one of my wind deflectors snapped off on my GTT after I was forced to squeeze out of the car in a tight parking space.

I never really liked them so it didn't bother me, and I unclipped what was left and removed all the glue residue to try and get the car back to stock appearance.

The problem is that where the deflector was fitted there is now a pretty noticeable gap in the door window seal where the deflectors clips clipped behind the seals and deformed them.

Does anyone know how is best to go about "closing" this gap so that rain water, dirt and other horrors don't get inside the seal?

Cheers

I've got exactly the same problem after removing the wind deflectors. They damage your car and look crap...What's the point?!

Anyway, I tried gently hammering the seals back in place which didn't work at all so I'm thinking of just replacing them with new items.

Unless anyone has a better idea.....?

100% agree with this - Not impressed that the previous owner fitted them, especially given the ruination that the have made of the window seal gaps.

If you want to make your car look crap whilst also creating a damaged rust prone area on the door, don't buy wind deflectors - save yourself a lot of money and just ask your friendly neighbourhood vandal to "key" the doors.

The seals look like they are metal backed, so it might be possible to unbolt them somehow and reshape them.
Soneone out there must have corrected this butchery before. Can anyone give some tips on how to fix this?
