Ho hum.... Here we go.
I'm seriously considering selling my R32 GTST and getting something less expensive and more reliable, and with that in mind I'm looking for a bit of sensible advice (ok that rules half of you lot out straight away!).
Perhaps I'm after someone talking me into keeping it, or perhaps talking me into selling it, I really don't know.
Having recently moved back to Scotland (I commute to London to work) there's been a lot going on, and in the past year or so I've really not been spending the time on the car I should (she is after all 14 years old and gets used hard (hmm that sounds dodgy)).
Since I bought it (rushed into buying, bought a bit of a munter really) I've rebuilt most of it since every few months something else blows up or breaks, and nowadays I'm kinda tired of the constant expense or worry over what can go wrong next, altho I dont think there's much original left other than the engine iself and half the bodywork, and its hard finding the time to do the work on it myself, which was always something I loved doing but now I can't be arsed. Jet lag sucks lol
My sensible head wants to buy a house soon, and financially saving for a deposit and running the liner dont mix too well right now for various reasons, its feasible but a pain in the arse.
I love driving it, everytime I get in there's still the same thrill I had almost 3 years ago when I bought it, and I've chucked a lot of money at it over that time either adding things or fixing things. I know I'm not going to get the same grin in almost anything else cos there's not much out there I haven't driven at some point. Also, I have to admit the vain Showoff in me loves the attention the car gets in town
Right now its needing a full brake change all round, the front bumper cutting and refitting to fit, some paintwork and the decals stripping off, the rims repolished and a coupla other things like guage fitting.... and thats just to make her presentable before I even think about selling, so there is some thinking time.
Bah its driving me mental, I hate trying to be mature about things!
Anyways, there you have it. It'll break my heart to let it go I think, I still regret parting with my '79 Trans Am, and that coupled with the grin factor are about all that's making me keep it I think....
[sits back and awaits influx of wisdom]
[still waiting]
:wtf:
